According to PitchBook's 2025 Annual Global Private Market Fundraising Report , capital raised for European private debt funds reached a record $79.4 billion last year, up nearly 40% from 2024. This represents a third of all commitments to the asset class in 2025, 10 percentage points higher than the year prior. Fewer funds closed in 2025 than in previous years, but the region's fund count percentage also ticked upward from 19.3% in 2024 to 22.5%. North America reduced its share of overall private debt fundraising but remains by far the largest market for private debt. Fundraising for the region fell 15% over the previous year to $148.2 billion, leading its share of the global annual total to drop from 71.9% to 63.3%. A handful of mega-funds helped to push capital raised to new heights in Europe. In January 2025, Ares Management raised the region's largest-ever private debt vehicle, pulling in €17.1 billion for Ares Capital Europe VI. In October, CVC Capital Partners secured €1
