Americans Will Spend More Money, Less Time On Vacation This Summer Than Those From 11 Other Western Nations Americans will be spending less time on vacation this summer than people from 10 European nations and Brazil, but still are planning to spend to spend more on their travel this summer than those of the 11 countries included in surveys done this spring. The percentage of Americans planning to take a vacation this summer is holding steady vs. the summer of 2018 at around 68%, or just over two-thirds of the population. Leisure travel industry leaders in the United States have been frustrated for years that despite their industry’s hard work and big spending aimed at increasing the percentage of Americans who take vacations the percentage of them who do so has remained around the two-thirds mark for a couple of decades now.
