Europe's VC gender gap isn't closing, even with more women writing checks [Yahoo! Finance]

According to PitchBook's 2025 European All In Report , female representation at the fund level has improved, with 13% of decision-makers at European VC firms with AUM of less than €50 million (about $58 million) being women. This is compared to just 8.3% in 2024. For larger firms, with more than €50 million in AUM, the increase has been slower, 16.5% in 2025 versus 15% the previous year, but it is a positive signal that Europe's investors are becoming more diverse. While the lack of female investors is often cited as a key factor in the underfunding of women-founded startups, the modest improvement in investment board representation has not translated into more investment for female-led businesses. Last year, female founders' share of overall dealmaking has continued to slip to just 16.5% of deal value, down from 20.4% in 2024 and less than a quarter of deal count.
