Charter ( CHTR ) is working with advisers as it evaluates a potential deal for Altice USA ( ATUS ), according to a Bloomberg report on Monday, which cited people familiar with the matter. It's not clear whether a formal approach has been made and Charter ( CHTR ) may decide not to go forward, the report said. Altice has a market cap of ~$1 billion, while Charter is valued at $49 billion. Representatives for Charter ( CHTR ) and Altice USA ( ATUS ) declined to comment to Bloomberg. Altice USA is a New York-listed spinoff from Patrick Drahi's Altice telecommunications empire. Takeover speculation is not new to Altice USA ( ATUS ). Last February New Street Research put out a note speculating that Comcast ( CMCSA ) could be a possible suitor for Altice.
