The group has leading bank shares in Colombia and Central America and the largest pension manager and merchant bank in Colombia, and regularly boasts an ROE in excess of 15%. One prime reason for difficulty in the share price has been a scandal involving a project involving a subsidiary and Odebrecht in which bribes were paid. Prior to the scandal, a weakening peso versus the dollar from lower oil prices and higher U.S. interest rates also pressured the price of the stock in U.S. dollars.
