The Dow Jones Industrial Average ( ^DJI ) rose 0.9%, or over 400 points, while the S&P 500 ( ^GSPC ) added 0.3%. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite ( ^IXIC ) climbed 0.2% after the major gauges finished Tuesday with gains across the board. Meanwhile, from the Institute for Supply Management showed US services activity expanded slightly in November to a reading of 52.6%, while the index for prices paid eased to a seven-month low in a potentially positive sign for inflation.
