Newly issued U.S. patent covers elements of Axcella’s muscle program CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Axcella (Nasdaq: AXLA), a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on leveraging endogenous metabolic modulators (EMMs) to pioneer a new approach for treating complex diseases and improving health, today announced the issuance of U.S. Patent 10,596,136. This patent broadly covers the use of the company’s initial muscle product candidate, AXA2678, and related EMM compositions for the reduction of fat infiltration in muscle.“This patent is the first to cover key elements of Axcella’s muscle program, including an important use of our initial muscle candidate,” said Paul F.
