Capital One, which acquired Discover Financial Services last May for $35 billion, has given some Discover cardholders access to Capital One benefits and features, including Capital One Travel, according to a source familiar with the integration efforts. These Discover cardholders have begun to service their accounts using the Capital One app and website, and their accounts are migrating to Capital One systems. Adding Discover cardholders to Capital One Travel's existing customer base puts it in a better position to compete against the Chase and American Express travel portals, as credit card companies and their rewards programs become increasingly important players in the U.S. travel industry. In 2024, Chase Travel did $11.3 billion in sales, and American Express Travel notched $10.55 billion, and they were the seventh and eighth largest travel agencies in the world, according to Travel Weekly .
