GKN is turning its attention to unmanned military aircraft as the West rearms - Chris Ratcliffe/Bloomberg GKN Aerospace will begin building killer drones in an effort to cash in on Europe's defence spending boom While best known as a specialist producer of fuselage, wing and engine parts, the company is turning its attention to unmanned military aircraft as the West rearms. The company's shift has emerged as Airbus and Boeing struggle to boost production of aircraft because of supply chain issues, limiting GKN's civil aerospace business. Other manufacturers have made similar moves in recent months as the UK and Europe ramp up defence spending. Airbus said this month that it was planning to increase military sales . The trend also extends beyond aerospace firms: carmaker Porsche is considering defence investments as Germany rearms.
