Boeing Co. said Tuesday it delivered 50 commercial airplanes in the first quarter, compared with 149 commercial aircraft in the first quarter of 2019 and expectations of 60, according to analysts polled by FactSet. Boeing has been under pressure from the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on air travel and the continued fallout from the worldwide groundings of its 737 Max fleet. Moody's Investors Service last week downgraded its debt ratings on Boeing to the middle of the investment grade pack saying that potential for order cancellations and postponement due to the virus virtually halting air travel was likely to become a greater pressure point on Boeing than the long-running 737 Max crisis. Earlier Tuesday, the aerospace and defense company said it would report first-quarter results on April 29. Boeing shares have fallen 63% in the past 12 months, compared with a 3% loss for the S&P 500 index in the same period.
