Related news Federal investigations into the Boeing ( BA ) 737 Max are reportedly wider than previously known, while a top customer removed the jets from its flight schedule through October and is reevaluating its orders. But Boeing stock rose. Boeing could face even more legal liability than previously expected over years of quality control issues with the troubled 737 Max, sources told the Wall Street Journal. The new civil and criminal inquiry builds on a Justice Department grand jury investigation into remarks from Boeing employees about the Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System (MCAS), which had been implicated in the two deadly crashes. The latest DOJ probe reportedly focuses on quality control issues at Boeing's factories after debris was found in half the 737 Max aircraft the company inspected in November.
