Bloomberg) -- Tentative steps toward progress in the economy and the fight against the coronavirus helped push U.S. stock futures higher.Contracts on the climbed 2.6% as of 6:03 p.m. in New York. Shares of Boeing Co. surged 7% in afterhours trading after saying it will resume commercial plane production at a plant near Seattle next week. Gilead Sciences Inc. jumped 14% on a report describing anecdotal evidence of shortened hospitalizations in Covid-19 patients being treated in Chicago with the company’s experimental drug remdesivir.After rising 0.2% in the regular session on speculation that President Donald Trump will map out a plan to reopen the economy, the Dow Jones Industrial Average saw its futures rise 3.1%.
