Capital inflows in 2025 marked the strongest year since 2009 across emerging-market assets, a shift that coincided with emerging equities outperforming US peers for the first time since 2017, narrowing yield gaps versus US Treasuries to the lowest level in more than a decade, and carry trades delivering their best returns since the global financial crisis. Optimism was evident at a recent Bank of America Corp. ( NYSE:BAC ) investment conference in London, where the bank hosted roughly 300 investors and found limited pessimism, with BofA's David Hauner remarking that skepticism toward the asset class has largely faded as developing economies make progress on debt reduction and inflation control.
