The committee subpoenaed Wexner, founder of L Brands, for the deposition, which was originally scheduled to take place in Washington, D.C. but instead was held at the retail mogul's New Albany estate. While Democratic committee members said Wexner had not invoked his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination to avoid answering questions, they expressed frustration with his answers and said he repeatedly claimed he couldn't recall specific situations or details. "There is no question in my mind, given the evidence so far, that Les Wexner knew about this and failed to stop it and gave Epstein license and the ability to commit these crimes," Rep. Stephen Lynch, D-Massachusetts, said at a press conference during a break in the deposition.
