Amid an industry-wide slowdown, the telecommunications giant is granting voluntary departure and retirement programs to about 50 per cent of its staff, not including those at Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) and the Toronto Blue Jays. The program also excludes staff at Sportsnet, as well as on-air talent and unionized employees. National Bank analyst Adam Shine said the immediate extrapolation from the initial headline for a story in the Globe and Mail, which broke the news on Monday afternoon, was that the . However, the company has not disclosed an expected take-up rate. “Unlikely,” Shine wrote in a note to clients following the report on Monday. “Rogers has done voluntary programs in the past, with the scale/uptake of these always well below what's otherwise being implied by and extrapolated from the article.” According to the company's 2025 annual report, Rogers had a total of 25,000 active employees last year.
