Everyone is worried about the coronavirus. Individuals think they might be next in line to get sick and, worse yet, pass the virus onto aging parents or young children. Wall Street thinks it will pull the rug out from under the U.S. economy, scaring consumers. They have a good reason to be worried. There is no vaccine. And even though the vast majority of people will survive the new virus, the risk of spreading it to those who will not is too high a risk. For many, the unkowns of the disease is what makes the mysterious COVID-19 so frightening. It’s why trips are being canceled. And why New York and California have cleared a state of emergency. The large SXSW tech conference in Austin, scheduled for mid-March, was canceled on Friday. So was the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum in Russia, despite being in June.
