Many of those trends were reflected a report released on Feb. 2 by the Kentucky Distillers' Association The 2024-2025 Economic and Fiscal Impacts of Kentucky's Distilling Industry biannual report has documented significant long-term expansion of the commonwealth's bourbon and distilled spirits industry since 2009, which now generates an all-time high of $372 million in state and local tax revenue. Still, it's no secret that 2025 was a grim year for Kentucky's bourbon industry. Brown-Forman kicked off 2025 by laying off 12% percent of its global workforce , and Jim Beam closed out a year of industry turmoil with the news it would halt production at one of its distilleries for 2026 Tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump's administration , too, curtailed foreign demand for Kentucky's favorite spirit.
