The U.K. FTSE 100 opened sharply lower, sliding 1.9% on Friday with most other European stock markets closed. Miners BHP Group and Glencore were among the decliners. Poorly received results from Apple and Amazon weighed on market sentiment, with the futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average down by 462 points.
