The National Park Service, an agency of the Department of the Interior, announced Monday, March 9, in a press release that the agency and the State of South Dakota will put on a fireworks celebration July 3 at Mount Rushmore National Memorial in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the U.S. The news marks the first time the monument would host such a fireworks display since 2020, when then-Gov. Kristi Noem got permission from President Donald Trump's first administration to hold the first show at the monument in more than a decade.
