Shares of Halliburton, Baker Hughes, and Chevron jumped sharply in Monday morning trading. Analysts said it would take years to harness Venezuela's energy potential, but it could boost the US. Energy stocks soared Monday as investors wagered the US raid on Venezuela would pay off handsomely for the oil industry and related sectors. Shares of both Halliburton and SLB — formerly Schlumberger — jumped more than 11% in morning trading, while Baker Hughes leaped 5%. Valero climbed 9%, Chevron gained 5%, and ConocoPhillips was up around 3% as of 12:30 p.m. ET. Those gains helped fuel a 1.5% rise in the Dow Jones, as well as 0.7% rises in the S&P 500 and Nasdaq. Asian and European stocks rose, with Germany's DAX closing up 1.3% and China's Shanghai Composite ending the day 2.2% higher.
