Related news TopBuild ( BLD ) doesn't have a fancy, towering corporate headquarters. In fact, it acts like it doesn't have a formal headquarters at all. And that's on purpose, says TopBuild CEO Gerald "Jerry" Volas. The company's corporate hub is in Dayton Beach, Fla. But Volas calls it a "branch support center." It's not a place for executive orders to come down from on high. Instead, the corporate hub supports TopBuild's 300 branches that install insulation and other construction products across the country. "TopBuild is fundamentally a service company," he told Investor's Business Daily. And employees should be mindful of that in "everything they do." Simply stated: Putting consumers first and empowering local employees to serve them is the key to TopBuild's success, Volas, 64, says. And it's working.
