Helen Jewell, international chief investment officer for fundamental equities at BlackRock ( NYSE:BLK ), has been pointing investors toward clean-energy stocks after making a contrarian call shortly after US President Donald Trump returned to the White House and pushed his drill, baby, drill agenda. At the time, the idea was difficult to sell to clients as renewable subsidies were being reduced, some permitted projects were paused and federal funding was being redirected toward fossil-fuel energy developments. Investor skepticism was understandable given that a global renewable-energy index had dropped about 65% from its 2021 peak, leaving many market participants cautious about another attempt to buy the sector.
