Consumers are cooking more at home and seeking alternatives as fast-food chains raise their prices. On the business side, inflationary pressures on ingredient prices and private equity acquisitions account for the grim fate of many of these chain restaurants. Chain restaurants have been riding the struggle bus lately—and if last year was any indication, they're not getting off any time soon.
