U.S. bond yields fall below 2% as Trump whipsaws stocks U.S. stocks retreated from record highs and oil surged as rising tensions between the U.S. and Iran dulled the optimism that followed the Federal Reserve’s dovish shift. The benchmark S&P 500 Index pared its all-time high after President Donald Trump said that “you’ll find out” when asked about possible retaliation for Iran shooting down a U.S. drone. Trump later suggested the downing wasn’t intentional. Crude surged more than 6 per cent. The 10-year U.S. Treasury yield dropped below 2 per cent for the first time since November 2016 on the prospect of easier monetary policy in the world’s biggest economy. “In the big scheme of things, it’s a concern because it creates uncertainty,” said Ernie Cecilia, chief investment officer at Bryn Mawr Trust Co. “From a longer-term perspective, we’d think that any issues would get resolved diplomatically.” Traders are now pricing in a virtual certainty the U.S. central bank will cut rates by
