Pharma stocks trade at about a 25% discount to their 10 year averages despite improving earnings momentum and more than $1 trillion of balance sheet capacity for acquisitions. AI could unlock about $90 billion in cost savings across U.S. pharma over five years, driving 5% to 13% earnings per share accretion and 12% to 25% upside to discounted cash flow valuations, estimates RBC. AI could shorten pre clinical timelines by 30% to 40%, cut development costs by 20% to 30% through more efficient trials, and expand manufacturing margins by 200 to 300 basis points. Early adopters such as Eli Lilly and Merck are already advancing AI designed molecules into clinical testing more quickly, it said.
