(Nasdaq: BNTC) (“Benitec” or the “Company”), a clinical-stage, gene therapy-focused, biotechnology company developing novel genetic medicines based on its proprietary DNA- directed RNA interference (“ddRNAi”) “Silence and Replace” platform, today announced that it has commenced an underwritten public offering of its common stock (or pre-funded warrants to purchase common stock in lieu thereof) and intends to conduct a concurrent registered direct offering of its common stock with long-term investor Suvretta Capital. In addition, the Company intends to grant the underwriters a 30-day option to purchase up to a number of additional shares of its common stock equal to 15% of the total number of shares of common stock (and pre-funded warrants to purchase common stock in lieu thereof) sold in the underwritten offering, on the same terms and conditions.
