The contract for jack-up rig Valaris 143 had been scheduled to end in December 2024. The 2011-built rig can operate in water depths of 350 ft, and its maximum drilling depth is 35K ft; it is leased under a bareboat charter agreement to ARO Drilling, a 50-50 joint venture between Valaris ( VAL ) and Saudi Aramco. Earlier Thursday, Aramco had informed Borr Drilling that it suspended one of the company's jack-up rigs; Valaris ( VAL ) shares had finished in regular trading following the news. Aramco has suspended several jack-up rig contracts with at least six drilling contractors as it attempts to refine its offshore drilling fleet following Saudi's decision to pause the further expansion of its oil production capacity.
