Corcoran is due to take up the role on 5 January 2026, with responsibility for overseeing Asda's technology and data functions. He will lead the retailer's technology and data teams as the company continues to operate as a standalone business following its separation from Walmart. The appointment follows the completion of Asda's separation programme from US retailer Walmart, with the supermarket now concentrating on developing and fine-tuning its own systems. Asda said Corcoran arrives with over 25 years of senior IT leadership experience, spanning a wide range of industries such as technology, financial services, civil aviation, oil and gas, telecommunications, and the aerospace and defence sectors. He has held high-level technology leadership roles across a range of major organisations, including Microsoft, Barclays, Gatwick Airport, BP and Castrol.
