The former boss of BP has been recruited to run a CIA-backed tech company in his first executive role since being ousted over a workplace fling Bernard Looney, 56, was hired by AI company Prometheus Hyperscale as its chief executive on Wednesday. The group, backed by the US intelligence service's venture capital arm In-Q-Tel, is seeking to build “zero-carbon” facilities in Wyoming and Texas. It marks a return to front-line duties for the former oilman, who resigned from BP three years ago after failing to properly declare past romantic relationships with his colleagues. At the time, BP said he “knowingly misled” the board over the relationships. He was forced to forfeit £32m of pay awards because of the scandal. Since then, the oil company has struggled for focus with Mr Looney's successor Murray Auchincloss stepping down after just two years in charge. He has been replaced by Meg O'Neill , who took up her role on Wednesday, promising “more consistency” from the company.
