Apple closes all stores except in China 'until further notice' Coral Murphy USA TODAY Apple announced Tuesday that it will close all its U.S. retail stores "until further notice" due to the coronavirus outbreak. This indefinite closure noted atop the Apple.com website comes after the company had announced Friday that it was closing stores outside Greater Chinafor two weeks. “The most effective way to minimize risk of the virus’ transmission is to reduce density and maximize social distance,” Apple CEO Tim Cook had said in a statement Cook had said its online stores will remain open, as well as the Apple Store app. Workers will continue to receive pay in alignment with business-as-usual operations, according to the post.
