Most people think "rich" shows up with a comma-heavy bank balance. Warren Buffett pegged it at five figures—and walked away from an inheritance to prove he meant it. During a Q&A with University of Kansas students in 2005, the Berkshire Hathaway chairman was asked when he knew he was rich. Buffett didn't point to a big deal or a market win. "I really knew I was rich when I had $10,000," Buffett said. "I knew a long time ago that I was going to be doing something I loved doing with people that I loved doing it with. In 1958, I had my dad take me out of the will, as I knew I would be rich anyway. I let my two sisters have all the estate."
