(Alexander Soule/Hearst Connecticut Media) It wasn't just the roadside "for sale" signs knocked askew by salvos of snow rocketing off passing plows - Connecticut's overall real estate market buckled in the wake of the February nor'easter with buyers still waiting on any burst of new listings About 1,700 houses and condos sold in Connecticut in February, according to Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices New England Properties , a 14% drop from a year earlier as a January cold snap put some sellers into hibernation mode, pushing back plans to put their properties on the market. On the heels of that came the February nor'easter , which kept many buyers cooped up for days. Those ready to buy have had nearly 740 fewer new listings to peruse in the first two months of the year if compared to the start of 2025, by Berkshire Hathaway's count.
