The company expects to generate C$575 million in free cash flow this year based on current strip prices, but at higher oil prices, it could double. The stock could see some near-term pressure as new shares open up to trade following an acquisition last year. Back in September , I placed a “Strong Buy” rating on Baytex Energy ( NYSE: BTE ), saying with its recent acquisition in the Eagle Ford that it looked well positioned to quickly pay down debt and deleverage at current oil prices. However, I lowered my rating to “Buy” in December as the company's FCF guidance was a bit disappointing due to lower oil price assumptions. Let's catch up on the stock following its Q4 earnings.
