This article first appeared on GuruFocus Shares of BYD Co. ( BYDDY ) edged lower in Hong Kong trading after the Chinese automaker reported a sharp decline in February production and sales. The stock fell about 1% following the update. BYD said February vehicle production dropped 47.5% from a year earlier, while sales declined 41.1%, marking a sixth straight month of contraction and the steepest fall since early 2020. Passenger vehicle output for February totaled 172,525 units, down nearly 39% year over year. Sales of passenger vehicles fell 36% to 187,782 units. New energy vehicles, which include battery electric and plug-in hybrid models, also weakened, with production down 38.4% and sales off 35.8%. Warning!
