Le 29 octobre dernier, le groupe bancaire français BPCE est devenu l’unique actionnaire de Novo Banco, quatrième banque du Portugal. La transaction a toutefois été assombrie par des perquisitions policières menées au siège social de l’entreprise immédiatement après l’annonce, dans le cadre d’une enquête pour corruption et blanchiment d’argent. Avec cet accord, BPCE a acquis les 25 % du capital restant de Novo Banco, soit 11,5% détenus par l’État portugais et 13,5% par le Fonds de résolution des banques portugaises, pour un montant total de 1,6 milliard d’euros (2,6 G$), prenant le contrôle total de l’entreprise, valorisée à 6,4 milliards d’euros (10 G$).
