Tether is moving deeper into bitcoin mining infrastructure with a new class of modular, high-density systems designed to give operators more control over energy use, cooling and performance. The company said it is working with Canaan Inc. (NASDAQ: $CAN) and ACME Swisstech to build mining systems around application-specific hash board modules rather than fully assembled, off-the-shelf rigs. Large-scale mining has become a business where hardware design, power costs and thermal efficiency can matter almost as much as bitcoin's price. Tether's approach separates compute from power and enclosure, allowing each layer of the system to be tuned or upgraded independently. The design is optimized for immersion cooling, although the company said other cooling systems are also being developed. That shift is meant to solve a practical problem in mining operations.
