CHAPEL HILL, N.C., Nov. 03, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Cempra, Inc. (Nasdaq:CEMP), a clinical-stage pharmaceutical company focused on developing differentiated anti-infectives for acute care and community settings to meet critical medical needs in the treatment of infectious diseases, today announced the preliminary results of its stockholder vote at the company’s 2017 annual meeting of stockholders held today. Among other proposals, Cempra stockholders approved the issuance of Cempra common stock pursuant to the previously announced agreement and plan of merger and reorganization dated as of August 8, 2017, as amended on September 6, 2017 and October 24, 2017 (the merger agreement), pursuant to which Melinta will merge with a subsidiary of Cempra (the merger) as described in the definitive proxy statement filed by Cempra on October 5, 2017 and supplemented as of October 24, 2017 and October 27, 2017 (the definitive proxy statement).
