Federal Reserve meeting proved more dovish than the market expected The Fed kept its main policy rate target unchanged at a 5.25%-5.5% range and left its median estimate for rates by year-end at a level that implies three quarter-point rate cuts for 2024. Aluminum prices also are enjoying a bounce from improving demand prospects from top consumer China, which imported 720K tons of unwrought aluminum and products in the January-February period, up 93.6% Y/Y, customs data showed. According to Reuters, three-month aluminum ( LMAHDS03:COM ) on the London Metal Exchange recently traded to $2,301/metric ton, after earlier touching $2,312/ton, the highest since January 4.
