KANSAS CITY, Mo., April 28, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Cerner Corporation (Nasdaq: CERN) today announced results for the 2020 first quarter that ended March 31, 2020. Bookings in the first quarter of 2020 were $1.09 billion, at the low end of the Company’s expectations as the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in mid-March caused the volume of contracts to be lower than normal in the last two weeks of the quarter. First quarter 2020 revenue was $1.41 billion, an increase of 2 percent compared to $1.39 billion in the first quarter of 2019 and slightly below the company’s expectations due to the lower level of bookings in the quarter as well as travel restrictions implemented by the company in response to the pandemic. On a U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) basis, first quarter 2020 net earnings were $147 million and diluted earnings per share were $0.47.
