EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn., April 09, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- CHF Solutions (Nasdaq: CHFS), a medical device company dedicated to changing the lives of patients suffering from fluid overload, today announced the submission of a patent application for an adaptation to the Aquadex SmartFlow™ system to rapidly clear cytokines, including interleukin 6 (IL-6), from the blood. Removal of cytokines from the blood may improve the condition of patients suffering from COVID-19. “We continue to receive positive feedback from medical staff using the Aquadex SmartFlow system with critically ill COVID-19 patients being treated with fluid resuscitation,” said John Erb, CEO of CHF Solutions. “In addition to rapidly and gently removing excess fluid from COVID-19 patients, we believe that our new innovation may enable the Aquadex SmartFlow system to clear cytokines from a patient’s blood.
