The acquisition is valued at around $12 billion, making it one of the highest valuations compared to EBITDA in recent years (especially for natural gas production). Chesapeake primarily paid for natural gas production, which has a lower value compared to the more valuable liquids produced by the sold Eagle Ford properties. The Eagle Ford sale covered here was for roughly 2.3 times EBITDA. The Southwestern acquisition was much higher than that.
