Despite elevated geopolitical risk and ongoing concerns about US fiscal sustainability, risk assets rallied during Q3 and delivered positive returns as trade tensions subsided and investors turned their attention to the US Federal Reserve (Fed). Security selection among the Technology & Electronics, Retail and Basic Industry sectors also helped relative performance, with standout contributors including Unisys, PetSmart and Cleveland-Cliffs. The strategy's lack of Energy exposure, cash drag in a risk-on environment and overweight allocations to the Technology & Electronics and Insurance sectors detracted from relative performance. The investment team's primary focus remains on careful credit selection and relatively neutral overall risk positioning.
