The last live storage industry gathering I was able to attend was the 2020 Usenix FAST Conference, February 24-27. Right after that conference in Santa Clara, companies and other organizations began to shut down their live events, such as the Open Compute Project (OCP) Summit and the GPU Technology Conference (GTC) because of fears about the impact of COVID-19.It remains to be seen how well the various virtual events being scheduled to replace some live events will do in terms of engagement, perhaps that will drive virtual reality and other technologies that allow more immersive remote participation. COVID-19 is having a bit impact on meetings and events at all levels.
