Connecticut residents are feeling the sting of higher oil prices. (AP Photo/Toby Talbot, File) Although Connecticut's home heating season is starting to wind down, the price that consumers who heat their home with oil pay continues to rise. The latest statewide average price of home heating oil was nearly $5.12 per gallon as of March 9, according to the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection . That price was up 81.5 cents or or 18.99 % from March 2, which was just two after the start of the United States' ongoing war with Iran. Much of the blame for the increase in the price of petroleum products, like home heating oil has been blames on the war and Iran's control of the Strait of Hormuz, a shipping channel through which roughly 20% of the global daily oil supply passes.
