Trump tweeted : “We protect the countries of the Middle East, they would not be safe for very long without us, and yet they continue to push for higher and higher oil prices! We will remember. The OPEC monopoly must get prices down now!” October West Texas Intermediate crude CLV8, +0.65% added 6 cents, or less than 0.1%, to $70.80 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The U.S. benchmark contract on Wednesday closed at the highest for a front-month contract since July 10, according to FactSet data. The October contract expires at the end of session.
