U.S. markets, which were closed for Christmas, were set to open higher on Wednesday. Stocks are still headed for their worst December since the Great Depression in 1931. Futures for S&P 500 added 0.3 percent to 2,349.25. Dow futures were up 0.2 percent at 21,744.00. Markets in Europe, Hong Kong and Australia were closed.
