In a CNBC interview, the investor named Canadian Natural Resources ( CNQ ), ConocoPhillips ( COP ), Devon Energy Corp. ( DVN ), Magnolia Oil & Gas Corp. ( MGY ), and Kosmos Energy Ltd. ( KOS ) as his top five oil stock ideas in exploration and production. “When we do our long-term oil demand modeling, we don't see a peak happening this decade,” he said. “We think that peak happens at some point next decade. We think the market needs to better appreciate companies with depth of inventory, and Canadian oils have that.” He said that these companies generate a lot of free cash flow, and that in 2025 they will be trading at 11% free cash flow yield. Brent oil ( CO1:COM ) is at $87.43, up 13.48% year-to-date, and up 3.54% from a year ago. Mehta said that the strength in Brent prices has been a function of three dynamics: U.S. production has taken a dip.
