Just like that, the Tigers added first base to Jung's defensive profile – along with second base and third base. He has been working at all three positions during spring training, including extra reps at first base under Cora's instruction Saturday, Feb. 14, as he continues to learn the position. Manager first mentioned the possibility of playing first base to Jung in mid-January at a voluntary gathering for position players at Comerica Park. The news caught Jung by surprise. At the time, the Tigers hadn't finalized those plans. "And then Joey called me a couple of weeks later," Jung said.
