Founded by Brian Armstrong in 2012, Coinbase is the largest crypto trading exchange in the United States. The firm became publicly listed in 2021 and joined the S&P 500 benchmark in May 2025. Coinbase has also begun offering prediction markets which has made it extremely popular among young traders. The exchange has also launched an app store for AI payment agents.
