Compass, the largest residential real estate brokerage in the United States by sales volume, plans to lay off 110 employees in Madison in 2026. The company filed a WARN notice with the New Jersey Department of Labor & Workforce Development, advising that the job cuts in this Morris County municipality will take place anytime from now through Aug. 14. It comes after Compass and Anywhere Real Estate — the Madison-based parent company of brands like Coldwell Banker, Sotheby's International Real Estate, Better Homes and Gardens, and more — officially merged in a $1.6 billion deal on Jan. 9 to form Compass International Holdings. The combined organization is being led by Compass Founder and CEO Robert Reffkin, who said in an open company letter that each brand will continue to operate independently.
